Post-Workout Smoothie

Post-Workout Smoothie I had thought that once my boys finished up football this past fall, I would have a break from toting them around to practices and games. Nope. Just a mere two weeks after the football season had finished, they started off-season workouts at the high school. Since these are open to all future and current students, my seventh grader insisted on attending as well. In fact, my younger son has no problem going to these workouts, even when his older brother chooses not to attend. No one ever said he wasn’t dedicated!

Every single day, after school, I am hustling to take my middle-schooler over to the high school before the conditioning session starts. Even when school is not in session, like over winter break, the high school still had workout sessions that my boys would rather die than miss. I sometimes think my oldest goes only to socialize, or show up his younger brother, while my youngest boy goes because he truly loves to improve himself and wants to be the best athlete he can be.

Post-Workout Smoothie Regardless of why they choose to work out, when they come home, they are always starving. To hold them over until dinner is ready, I like to whip up a delicious smoothie for them. Not only is this smoothie packed with potassium and protein, it is super hydrating thanks to the coconut water. My kids love this smoothie because it’s sweet and decadent – almost like having dessert before dinner. Maybe it’s a little sneaky, but I can feel good about giving my kids the nutrients they need to help repair and nourish their body after intense training – while they just think they are getting a treat.

**For a thicker smoothie, add an additional container of frozen yogurt.
